PhD in Translational Research in the Sciences for Health Protection

INTRODUCTION

The PhD Programme in TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH IN THE SCIENCES FOR HEALTH PROTECTION is a high-level postgraduate training pathway designed to educate outstanding researchers to work in different fields related to health protection. The programme is built on a translational approach that integrates theoretical knowledge and practical applications in a multidisciplinary manner, addressing the growing demands for prevention and care of both individual and collective physical and mental health. Particular attention is given to promoting equitable access to safe, high-quality, and personalized care through models that include specific protection measures for vulnerable individuals and victims.

The PhD programme is structured into four curricula, with the aim of fostering a multidisciplinary and translational approach focused on health protection as a fundamental human right.

The acquisition of strong theoretical and methodological foundations is supported by intensive training activities, including seminars, workshops, and collaborations with leading national and international research centers. This ensures a comprehensive and versatile education aligned with the needs of scientific and professional landscape.

The structured teaching course of the PhD programme amounts to 24 credits (1 credit = 6 hours) and is addressed to all PhD candidates, regardless of their curriculum. In addition, a programme of thematic skills is organized by the University of Florence. All PhD candidates are required to attend this component for a minimum of 6 credits (1 credit = 6 hours).

The study plans ordinarily include training periods at other institutions and, in any case, training periods abroad of no less than 3 months.
