Active Joint Laboratories
Joint Laboratories are a strategic tool through which the Department of Health Sciences conducts collaborative research with public bodies, businesses and institutional partners. In line with the model promoted by the University of Florence, these laboratories encourage the sharing of expertise, infrastructure and resources to develop highly innovative research programmes with significant scientific and societal impact.
Through its Joint Laboratories, the Department strengthens the connection between academic research and real-world applications, promoting knowledge transfer, the development of new technologies, and the creation of national and international collaborative networks.
INTERCEPT – InNovaTivE dRugs for CEll-sPecific Targeting

The INTERCEPT Joint Laboratory develops preclinical and clinical research projects aimed at creating new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of degenerative diseases and conditions characterised by chronic pain.
Its research focuses on developing innovative molecular and genetic strategies capable of selectively delivering drugs to specific cellular targets involved in pathological processes. This approach aims to improve treatment effectiveness and support the development of increasingly targeted and personalised therapies.
ILCM – International Lab of Clinical Measurements

The International Lab of Clinical Measurements (ILCM) operates in the field of clinical pharmacopsychology, which studies the psychological effects associated with pharmacological treatments.
The Laboratory conducts research into the clinical benefits of psychotropic medicines, the factors influencing treatment response, and the potential vulnerabilities induced by pharmacological therapies. Particular attention is paid to patients’ subjective experiences, psychological well-being and quality of life, with the aim of providing increasingly effective tools for assessing clinical outcomes and improving care pathways.
