TANATOCENTRUM

"I have built a monument more lasting than bronze and higher than the pyramids, which neither corrosive rain, nor raging wind, nor the endless succession of years, nor the passage of time can destroy.
With these words, Horace was referring to the fact that the works a person gives to the world can bear fruit after death: a fruit that cannot age or deteriorate, but only nourish new life.
The Center's vision is to enable the transformation of death into knowledge that promotes and improves life: from the body, a fruit will be drawn that can serve to better prevent and treat diseases, to educate increasingly prepared professionals, and to address medico-legal and legal issues to protect everyone's rights. All of this in the utmost respect for the sacredness of the human body and according to the most rigorous legal, ethical, and scientific parameters.
The Center's mission is to create a program that, in full compliance with the bioethical, medico-legal, and legal aspects related to the end of life and the provisions for the use of the body or parts of it, is aimed at offering services that honor individual choice through training pathways for students and professionals and post-mortem research projects of great utility for clinical and forensic bio-medical disciplines.

The Tanatocentrum has been recognized by the Ministry of Health as one of the reference centers for the preservation and use of deceased bodies for training and research purposes (Ministerial Decree 24/04/2024).
