Donations and voluntary contributions

The enhancement and growth of research and teaching activities represent the primary commitment of the DSS. For this reason, the Department expresses its interest in accepting voluntary contributions from public and private entities, aimed at furthering the various research lines conducted within its sections or carrying out educational activities conducted by the Department.

The procedures for accepting and managing voluntary contributions provided by public or private entities aimed at developing the teaching and research activities of the Department of Health Sciences are contained in the "Self-regulation code for accepting voluntary contributions"

Research contributions

It is possible to provide appropriate support, including financial support, to scientific, educational, research, research promotion, and care initiatives, events, and projects across the clinical, scientific, healthcare, and social fields within the Department's various research lines divided into different Sections.

Teaching contributions

Support can also be provided for postgraduate educational activities of the Department of Health Sciences, with particular reference to Master's programs and Advanced Courses, contributing to enrollment fee support and the development of educational activities.

Educational activities conducted within the Department for which contributions can be made:

  • Master's in "Extracorporeal Blood Purification" A.Y. 2026/2027, Coordinator Prof. Gianluca Villa;

The Department of Health Sciences of the University of Florence invites companies operating in the field of extracorporeal blood purification to express their interest in co-designing the University Master's program in “Extracorporeal Blood Purification” for the 2026/2027 academic year. The initiative aims to build a highly qualifying educational pathway oriented toward developing theoretical and practical skills in extracorporeal therapies applied to critically ill patients, including through teaching, laboratory, and advanced simulation activities. Interested companies may contribute to defining the educational content, teaching activities, and potential forms of support for the program, according to terms to be governed by a specific agreement. This call for expressions of interest is open to all industry organizations interested in collaborating with the University in advanced training and clinical-care innovation. Expressions of interest must be submitted by 12:00 PM on June 1, 2026, to the Department's certified email address (PEC): dss@pec.unifi.it

Procedures for accepting voluntary contributions

Expressions of interest to support research and teaching can be submitted via letter of intent - research (english version)/letter of intent - teaching (english version) to the certified email address dss(AT)pec.unifi.it , followed by a formal acceptance resolution by the Department Board specifying the payment procedures.

Feedback regarding the actual utilization of the contribution will be provided only after disbursement, in accordance with decisions falling exclusively under the responsibility of the Scientific Director of the project or the Master's Coordinator.

Tax benefits are available for these contributions; for more information, please consult the website of the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate).

CAF America Certification

The Department of Health Sciences of the University of Florence has obtained “Validated Organization” certification issued by CAF Group – Global Charity Database, following an in-depth vetting process.

This certification represents an important institutional recognition attesting to the Department's reliability before the U.S. administration and formally enabling it to receive contributions from foundations, associations, and other legal entities based in the United States.

It is a concrete sign of credibility, transparency, and openness toward the international philanthropic and academic context. The validity of the certification for all U.S. foundations potentially interested in supporting our activities also constitutes a structural resource for the entire Department, potentially useful to any faculty member who in the future intends to activate or consolidate funding channels from the United States.

Small voluntary donations

  • Supporting research conducted in the Department means contributing to its growth and development.
  • To meet future commitments and ensure the sustainability of ongoing projects, the Department of Health Sciences relies on the generosity of all those who wish to contribute personally.
  • Voluntary contributions are spontaneous monetary donations, and individuals making voluntary donations can benefit from an IRPEF (Personal Income Tax) deduction of 19%.
  • Anyone wishing to send donations (up to a maximum of € 500.00), pursuant to the resolution of the Department Board at its meeting on October 12, 2016, to support general Department activities or specific research projects can do so by downloading the appropriate form.
